Vern Hoag's Saturn V

1 - Aerotech M1850W and 4 - AMW L777WW

Welcome to the 2009 National Sport Launch webpage. We are WOOSH – the Wisconsin Organization Of Spacemodeling Hobbyists NAR #558), and we have been flying rockets at Richard Bong State Recreation Area for more than ten years. We are very excited about bringing this event to the park. Bong is part of the Wisconsin State Park system, so attendees will need vehicle permits to enter the park. Local flyers purchase stickers for their vehicles that permit year round entry. For visitors we will have a special sticker available which will be available to preregistered flyers. The stickers are dated for the specific dates of your visit and are not replaceable or transferable from one vehicle to another. You can save money by carpooling to the event from the host hotel, saving both park entry fees and gas.

Our theme for the launch centers around the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 manned moon landing and we’d like to encourage everyone to participate in a Saturn rocket mass launch to be held on Saturday of the event (May 23rd). Each rocket and owner will be announced and launched individually so that the spectators get a chance to appreciate the complexity and creativity of each flyer’s rocket. Any Saturn rocket is welcome in the mass launch, not just Saturn V’s.

Our members are very enthusiastic about hosting the launch. If you have any questions about the event please contact us.

The Saturn V is the most powerful rocket in history. It is 363 feet tall and made the noise of 8 million stereos at full volume during liftoff
